Mr. Bones

This post is long overdue. I have had this quilt finished since November of last year, I took pictures while on vacation in May, and now it's the end of July and I finally have a post!

I knew as soon as I finished this quilt that I wanted to takes pictures of it in a cemetery. I just wasn't sure where I would find an old cemetery in my area. So I jumped at the opportunity to haul it with me when I visited Philadelphia with my parents and brother.

These pictures were so worth hauling this quilt around Philadelphia all day. This is the cemetery where Ben Franklin is buried, and it was exactly the cemetery I was imagining when I thought about photographing this quilt. Props to my Dad for doing a great job as a quilt holder for the first time. 

The pattern for this quilt was from the Halloween Medallion Quilt Along hosted by Michael Ann Handmade.  I loved sewing along and Mr. Bones turned out way cooler than I ever imagined. The quilting was a simple all over meander using Aurifil #2311 for the center panel, and Aurifil #4648 for the borders. William has claimed this quilt as his, and sleeps with it every night.

Here are a few more pictures from our day in Philadelphia. We visited the cemetery, the US Mint (no pictures allowed), the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. One of my degrees from A&M is in History, and I absolutely LOVED spending the day in such a historic town!
