Super Summer Sundress
The beauty of Texas is that we get summer weather basically all year. Last week I made a really cute sundress that I have be meaning to make for a while now. It turned out adorable but of course as soon as I finish it, it gets cold and rainy in Texas :( Luckily by the middle of the week it is going to be back to the 90degree weather that Texas is known for, and I will have a chance to wear it.
I used Simplicity 2362 to make the dress, and unfortunately this pattern is now out of print. I didn't even realize I had bought the pattern so long ago, but I guess I did. I always buy at least 5 patterns when Hobby Lobby puts them on sale for 99cents.
I had some beautiful blue Batik fabric in my stash and it was just crying out to be loved, so I adopted it for this project :) I love the way it turned out and I am so excited to finally be able to wear it all day, rather than just trying it on.
A close up of the pretty pleated bodice on my amazing body double. My mom told me 3 years ago that she was going to get me a dress form as a graduation gift, and I finally got it this summer. Needless to say, I am overjoyed at having it finally!
I still need to add the hook and eye fastener above the zipper, but I need to go buy some in order for that to happen :)
I tried to take some pictures outside, but William was curious and kept walking in front of me. He's such a sweet boy, and he LOVES to play in the backyard.
William looking cute as always.
Overall, I love how the dress turned out and I love that it only took me 2 days to make. The best thing about making sundresses is that they come together so quickly!
With the Texas weather starting to have random rainy cold fronts, I think it might be time to start making some pieces that are more suited towards fall :)

You can't tell from the picture, but there are two pockets in the front of the skirt. My hands are actually right above the openings for the pickets.

This is pretty! Plus we can still wear summer clothes down here in S GA, we're still in the 90s come mid day - no break on our AC bills!
